Frequent maintenance to remove loose sand, grit and dirt that may
scratch and abrade your stone will help keep it looking great and
minimize risk for damage:
- Use a soft, damp sponge, non-beater bar vacuum, soft-bristled
broom or microfiber cloth dust mop for effective removal of loose
grit and dirt that may abrade and dull your natural stone.
The Floor Store recommends our line of FloorCare
Essentials mops and microfiber dust cloths.
- Vacuum, sweep or mop high-traffic areas more frequently, as
needed.
- Regularly vacuum and/or clean your protective walk-off mats
to minimize transfer of dirt and grime to the floor.
- Do not saturate the stone with water or cleaners. Warm
water and a damp non-abrasive mop or soft sponge should typically
keep the surface of the stone sufficiently clean.
- Use only neutral cleaning products that are formulated and approved
for natural stone that will not etch or leave residue and cause
resoiling. Also see Spot
and Spill Removal.
- Never use all-purpose or acidic cleansers as they may abrade
or etch your natural stone.
Do not use abrasive cleansers or harsh scrubbing pads as they may
scratch or dull the flooring surface.
