Laminate Preventive Maintenance

Despite what some manufacturers may claim, all laminate flooring can be scratched if not properly maintained. Follow these simple steps to keep your flooring looking like new:

Use protective mats

Good quality entry and exit mats will help collect the dirt, moisture, grime, and sand that can damage your laminate floor.  Vacuum and/or clean these regularly to minimize the risk of transfer to the floor.

Use floor protectors under furniture

Place glides or floor protectors under furniture legs. For items on caster wheels, use only clean, seamless plastic wheels to prevent scratches.

Clean your area rugs

If you use area rugs on your laminate flooring, be sure to vacuum them regularly to remove loose dirt and sand.  Be sure all area rugs are completely dry before placing on the laminate floor.

Avoid direct UV sunlight exposure
Adjust blinds and shades to minimize UV and heat exposure of your laminate flooring.
